On 3 and 4 June, the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies (SPGI) hosted Coordination Committee meeting of the EU co-funded project European Values and Migration (EUAMI).

The event was designed to reflect on the progresses the partners made in 2023/24 and set priorities for the future. The two-day event combined working sessions, networking and cultural activities within a stimulating and collaborative atmosphere.

EUAMI consists of a network of 6 educational institutions led by the University of Padua and involving 5 high schools from Bulgaria (Emilian Stanev SU), Italy (Istituto E. Fermi and Canossa Campus), Poland (Zespół Szkół Administracyjno-Ekonomicznych) and Spain (Sant Josep Obrer).

The first day started with a welcome coffee at 9.00 a.m., followed by an introductory session during which each partner presented its key achievements of the past year and its expectations for 2024/25.

Afterwards, the focus turned to the working groups (Work Packages): WP4 opened the proceedings with a meeting devoted to communication.

This was followed by a general overview of the project, presented by Matteo Bassoli (University of Padua), the academic coordinator of EUAMI, who reiterated the aims of the project: to allow teachers and trainers to engage in curricular and extracurricular activities that allow for their own professional development and expansion regarding the European dimension of teaching at schools.

More specifically, it seeks to improve teachers‘ and educators’ understanding of the workings and institutions of the European Union, addressing in particular the issue of migration, while promoting the implementation and exchange of new teaching methodologies and information among teachers on EU issues.

In the morning, Benedetta Accordi, EUAMI administrative assistant, explained the administrative aspects, elaborating on procedures and operational details.

In the afternoon, participants reviewed the training course and the Moodle platform and registration procedures, then spent an hour planning activities for the coming school year.

A welcome coffee on 4 June was followed by a long session devoted to WP3: the group explored the opportunities offered by virtual exchanges, analysing their potential and benefits, and then delved into the in-presence teaching activities. These moments fostered an exchange of experiences and good practices, useful for improving future project activities.

This meeting was an important moment for the EUAMI project, as it enabled the partners to consolidate European collaboration and lay a solid foundation for activities in 2024/25. The combination of work, reflection and culture made the event a meaningful experience for all participants.
