What is EUPress
EUPress is a three-year Erasmus+ project (1 December 2022 to 30 November 2025), aimed at strengthening knowledge of the European Union, press freedom, and European civic education through innovative, participatory, and practice-oriented educational and journalistic activities.
The project is grounded in the awareness that contemporary social, political, and economic dynamics can no longer be understood solely through a national lens. In an increasingly interconnected and interdependent world, EUPress adopts a multilevel European perspective, fostering students’ ability to interpret reality beyond national boundaries and to engage critically with European institutions, policies, and public debates.
Bringing together a university, secondary schools, teachers, journalists, and students from 4 different European countries (Italy, Romania, Poland, Spain). EUPress creates a transnational learning space focused on critical thinking, responsible use of information sources, media literacy, and the understanding of EU governance and policy-making processes. Through co-designed educational pathways, the project aims to raise awareness among young people of the evolving institutional and political dynamics of the European Union, contextualised within broader international developments.
EUPress combines teacher training activities, student-oriented dissemination workshops, collaborative educational planning, and hands-on experiences, including participatory workshops, simulations, and journalism-related training. A central objective of the project is to support the development of informed and critically aware future citizens, capable of engaging with European affairs and of interpreting them through accurate, ethical, and responsible journalistic practices.
By integrating education, journalism, and European citizenship, EUPress contributes to equipping students with the conceptual tools and practical skills needed to navigate complexity, participate actively in democratic life, and understand the role of media in shaping the European public sphere.
