From 5 to 12 July 2025, the EUDEMOS project concluded its activities with the highly anticipated Brussels Summer School, offering students from across Europe the opportunity to experience the EU up close.

Among the participants was Giada Soldani, who shared her reflections on this enriching journey.

“While I had already taken part in international initiatives before, this was my first experience with EUDEMOS — and it offered me a deeper insight into the functioning and values of the European Union,” Giada explained.

The academic programme was tightly linked to the EU’s institutions and decision-making processes. Through interactive lectures and on-site visits to key institutions, such as the European Parliament, participants explored the inner workings of EU governance, its legislative dynamics, and the collaborative spirit underpinning the Union’s identity.

For Giada, seeing these institutions in person was transformative:

“I had studied the EU at school, but engaging with it directly in Brussels helped me appreciate the complexity, scale, and importance of its structures. I realized that the EU is not only a political system but also a long-term project built on cooperation, dialogue, and common values.”

Equally central was the intercultural dimension of the Summer School. Working alongside peers from different European countries gave participants the chance to exchange perspectives, make new friends, and experience the EU’s motto — “United in diversity” — firsthand.

While Giada suggested that accommodation and meal arrangements could be improved to foster an even stronger sense of community, she concluded on a positive note:

“Overall, the Brussels Summer School was a unique experience. It deepened my academic understanding of the EU and strengthened my sense of European citizenship. I would gladly participate again — because this initiative helps build an informed, engaged, and connected generation of young Europeans.”

The EUDEMOS project, through activities like the Brussels Summer School, continues to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become active European citizens.
