In the implementation of EUPress project activities, the students of Liceo Machiavelli demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm as they prepared for a special school outing. The students’ destination was Europa Experience, a venue dedicated to fostering understanding and appreciation of the European Union among young learners. The foundation was named in honor of the late European Parliament President Davide Sassoli and serves as a beacon of European values and democratic education.
Upon arrival, students were greeted by guides who were experts in European affairs. The guides elucidated that the Europa Experience was meticulously crafted to be both interactive and engaging, with the objective of imparting knowledge to visitors about the functions and impact of the European Union through the use of state-of-the-art exhibits and multimedia presentations.

The first stop was the Pathway to Europe exhibition, which provides an in-depth overview of the European Union’s history from its inception to the present day. The exhibition employs a variety of engaging techniques, including digital timelines, interviews with key figures in EU history, and touch-screen maps that illustrate significant events in European integration. This immersive approach helps students gain a deeper understanding of the complex nature of European politics and the foundational values that guide the Union.
Next, the group participated in a role game: they simulated European Council session, one of the highlights of the David Sassoli Foundation’s offerings. Students assumed the roles of EU country leaders and policy makers, tasked with resolving a mock crisis situation. This simulation was not only fun but incredibly educational, as it required critical thinking, diplomacy, and collaboration—skills at the very heart of European governance.

Teachers noted a spark of deeper interest in European studies among the pupils, fulfilling one of the core aims of the outing. This school trip was an inspiring journey into the heart of European democracy, reflecting the legacy of David Sassoli and his commitment to nurturing informed, engaged citizens. Students documented this experience in short videos in which they reported their knowledge about the European Union but also their excitement for the role game and a renewed sense of their place and role in this vast, interconnected world.
