From 9 to 15 September, about forty male and female students from four European countries will visit major institutions in Brussels as part of the Jean Monnet Network “European Values”, funded by the European Union.

“European Values” involves, in addition to eCampus University as lead partner, five high schools from Italy (’IIS N. Machiavelli‘ of Lucca and “IIS Montessori Repetti” of Marina di Carrara), Cyprus (’Lykeio Agiou Antoniou‘ of Limassol), Denmark (’Ørestad Gymnasium‘ of Copenhagen) and Greece (’2nd Geniko Lykeio’ of Arta). It is also supported by the Study, Training, Communication and Design Centre on European Union and Global Governance (a spin-off of the Scuola Sant’Anna of Pisa).

The aim of the project is to systematically introduce European issues into the teaching and activities of the partner schools.

Within the framework of the project it was decided to realise the Summer School in Brussels with a view to active and interactive teaching. Students will thus have the opportunity in each working session to meet and discuss with institutionalfigures and representatives of European institutions and civil society.

In fact, the programme foresees visits and meetings at and with representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the Italian Representation to the European Union, the Tuscany Region Office to the European Union, as well as the NATO Headquarters, in addition to meetings with representatives of the media and civil society, and a visit to the House of European History. Some students will also have the opportunity to visit the Committee of the Regions of the European Union.

The theme of the trip will be “Europe in the World: Common Foreign Policy and Defence, Green Transition and Values”. Faced with the crisis situations and global challenges that the EU is facing, it is essential to delve into the essentials and think about creative solutions.

In addition to visiting the institutions, there will be debates, workshops, and role-playing and simulations of European institutions, making use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the project and the summer school meetings.
