On April 22, members of the European Values and Migration Project took part in a remarkable meeting at the Emigration Museum in Gdynia organized around the premiere of the newest issue of the journal Polski Przegląd Migracyjny (Polish Migration Review). The event brought together writers, journalists, students, and experts to discuss how migration shapes modern cities and societies.
The debate featured several distinguished speakers whose professional work focuses on social change, urban development, and migration issues. Among them was Grzegorz Piątek, an award-winning Polish writer, architecture critic, and author of widely acclaimed books on urban history and architecture. His publications explore the relationship between cities, society, and political transformations in contemporary Europe.
Another guest was Stasia Budzisz, a respected journalist and reporter specializing in social issues, migration, and Eastern European affairs. Through her books and reportages, she highlights personal stories connected with identity, borders, and cultural change.
The panel also included Marzena Bąkowska, a well-known Polish radio journalist recognized for her work on regional and social topics as well as public debates concerning civic engagement and contemporary challenges in Polish society.
The meeting was not limited to passive listening. Students from Zespół Szkół Administracyjno-Ekonomicznych – Marta Potrykus, Jakub Jankowski, and Bartosz Sierżęga – actively participated in the discussion, asking questions and sharing their reflections during the forum. After the debate, they also had the opportunity to speak personally with the invited authors and journalists.
The event closely reflected the objectives of the EUAMI project, which promotes dialogue on European values, migration, democratic participation, and intercultural understanding. By engaging directly with public intellectuals and media professionals, students gained a deeper understanding of how migration influences both urban life and European identity, while also developing critical thinking and civic awareness.
