The 11th General Lyceum of Heraklion, alongside the EUDEMOS team, took part in “Erasmus Days 2024” held at the School of European Education in Heraklion, Crete, on October 21, 2024. This event, organized by the Regional Directorate of Primary & Secondary Education of Crete, provided a platform for schools and educational institutions to share the purpose, goals, and achievements of their Erasmus+ initiatives.

Over 150 educators and 50 students from more than twenty institutions across Crete joined the gathering. Participants highlighted the educational practices and insights gained from their Erasmus+ exchanges, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the educational community. A key focus was placed on the significant impact of European cooperation, especially through Erasmus+ projects, in cultivating unity and a shared European identity.

The students of the 11th General Lyceum of Heraklion recounted their experiences from a summer school held in Sardinia from September 2-7, 2024. Through engaging presentations, they shared their reflections on current challenges within the European Union and emphasized the importance of embracing a unified European identity. Their contributions illustrated the importance of working together across borders to address shared challenges, ultimately underscoring the collective European responsibility to build a future of unity and prosperity.

Various interactive activities and workshops were held throughout the day, enriching the Erasmus Days experience. Highlights included hands-on sessions about road safety, led by the ELMEPA – PDE Crete Erasmus+ KA220 SAFETeen team, and climate change experiments conducted by the Erasmus Academy Climademy team from the University of Crete. These activities provided students with a deeper understanding of crucial issues facing Europe today and fostered a sense of engagement with European values.

For the EUDEMOS team, Erasmus Days 2024 was an invaluable opportunity to disseminate the outcomes of their Sardinia Summer School, advocating for the systematic integration of European themes within school curricula through creative, interactive, and educational activities. Their participation further highlighted the role of Erasmus+ in strengthening European identity and promoting key values within educational environments.
