The third day of the EUdemos Summer School brought students one step closer to understanding the multifaceted challenges that the European Union faces today. In true Erasmus+ spirit, the day was filled with insightful discussions, collaborative workshops, and activities that fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose among the diverse group of participants.

The morning session kicked off with an inspiring talk titled “The Current Challenges Faced by the EU,” delivered by experts Jerónimo Maillo and Luca Sanna. This session explored significant issues, such as economic disparities, environmental sustainability, and migration—realities that affect us all as Europeans. The speakers’ insights ignited thoughtful discussions and encouraged students to reflect on their own roles in shaping Europe’s future. By sharing perspectives from their respective countries, the students were able to appreciate the diversity of viewpoints within the Union, reinforcing the Erasmus+ values of intercultural exchange and collaboration.

Following the talk, the group participated in an interactive workshop called “Solving EU Challenges,” led by Luis Rodrigo. Here, students were divided into teams, each tasked with addressing specific challenges relevant to their own countries. The collaborative format allowed participants to employ problem-solving skills, share strategies, and experience the power of working together to tackle complex issues. This workshop highlighted the value of unity and collective effort—core principles of Erasmus+—in overcoming obstacles and building a stronger Europe.

In the afternoon, a European Union Quiz brought a light-hearted yet competitive energy to the day. Students tested their knowledge of EU history, institutions, and policies, reinforcing the concepts they had learned while promoting friendly rivalry among the schools. This fun activity encapsulated the spirit of Erasmus+: connecting young Europeans, encouraging learning through play, and strengthening bonds across borders.

The day culminated in a festive Awards Ceremony, where the winners of the Day of Europe Contest and the overall Summer School Winner School were announced. This celebration acknowledged students’ creativity, teamwork, and commitment throughout the program. The ceremony was not just a moment to applaud achievements; it was also an affirmation of the shared journey the students had embarked upon—a journey of growth, connection, and mutual respect that will resonate long after the Summer School concludes.

As the third day came to an end, the students departed with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for the importance of unity in addressing Europe’s shared challenges. The experiences of this day underscored the transformative power of Erasmus+ programs, which not only broaden young minds but also inspire them to play an active role in shaping the future of Europe.
