Yesterday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. was held the first of 12 meetings that will involve high school teachers from all over Europe for a training course as part of the European Commission-funded project, EUPress.

The academic coordinator, Prof. Masini from Roma Tre University shared with the participants his reflections on important European topics such as: the origins of the European integration process, the concept of multilevel governance, the advent of the single currency and the crucial role played in this process by European federalists such as Spinelli, Delors and Monnet.

The 26 teachers participating in the first meeting turned out to be full of enthusiasm and positive expectations, giving rise to an interesting discussion on the future of Europe for young people.

“I sincerely hope – stated Ludovica Valentino from Liceo Machiavelli (Rome) – that the cooperation between teachers from different countries will turn into a cooperative experience between the students of the different institutions participating in the project.” “My expectations – stressed Ludovica – are those of a training that deals with the various European problems and gives advice for the creation of papers focused on the issues discussed”

“I wish to assimilate as much information as possible from the trainers, in relation to European history, values and culture, through this platform” added Cristina Hrițcu, from Tehnicall College Emanuil Ungureanu in Timisoara (Romania). “I hope to implement my knowledge about EU and its strategies, mostly about Education and the promotion of our cultural heritage”, added Matteo Frivoli teacher of Latin, Greek and Italian in the Petrarca Classical-musical high school (Arezzo).

“After long time since graduation it seems to be a great experience not only for me as a teacher but also a mum of New Gen. First day was really awesom. It made me open my mind again”, affirmed Natalia Otulak, English teacher from the CLVI Liceum Ogólnokształcące Integracyjne in Poland. “My expectations towards this corse – continues Natalia – are: extending knowledge, exploring issues conected with European Eunion and its history, learning new metodology”.

Other interesting topics, from the functioning of European institutions to the European policies put in place to strengthen digital innovation and environmental sustainability, will be addressed in future meetings.

In addition, at the end of each of the two modules there will be in-depth focuses on specific topics. The first will cover the birth and intellectual legacy of the Ventotene Manifesto and the second on the economic, social and political impact of the Next Generation EU.
