Sant Josep Obrer School (SJO), a partner of the Jean Monnet project European Values and Migration, has implemented the newly introduced Sixth-Form subject European Union, aligning with the region’s updated legal syllabus.

Given SJO’s strong European orientation, long-standing commitment to the European project, and active involvement in Erasmus initiatives, the school embraced the new subject without hesitation.

Located in Palma de Mallorca and founded in 1953, SJO has grown into a comprehensive and innovative educational centre serving more than 3,000 students from kindergarten through vocational training. Recognised for its forward-looking approach, the school offers official language certifications, a dual diploma with the United States, and specialised programs in sports and music. Its long-standing mission is to provide high-quality education to learners from all backgrounds while preparing them for an increasingly global world.

Introducing the European Union as a standalone subject reflects SJO’s vision of integrating EU matters into mainstream education.

As an institution deeply committed to European values and to fostering global citizenship, SJO sees this curricular innovation as an essential step in ensuring students understand the workings, relevance, and impact of the EU.
