A school with a strong European outlook, long committed to educational innovation and technological experimentation. The ISI Sandro Pertini in Lucca is one of the five European partner schools involved in EURAWORK, a project promoted by the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa and funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Jean Monnet programme, which aims to bring discussions about the future of work in the age of artificial intelligence and robotics into the classroom.
The school’s participation in EURAWORK builds on a well-established commitment to international cooperation and educational innovation. As one of the funding schools of INDIRE’s Avanguardie Educative movement, ISI Pertini has become a reference point for experimenting with new teaching methodologies and integrating emerging technologies into education, being one of the 15 pilot schools in Italy experimenting artificial intelligence in classrooms. Its European dimension is further strengthened by its participation in the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS), which promotes awareness of European institutions, democratic values, and active citizenship among students.
Against this backdrop, EURAWORK represents another opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between schools, universities, and European institutions, equipping teachers and students with the tools to critically examine technological transformations and their ethical, social, and professional implications.
Why did a school already deeply engaged in educational innovation decide to join EURAWORK? And how can the project contribute to preparing the next generation of European citizens? We discussed these questions with Denise Cosentino, English teacher at ISI Pertini, exploring the motivations behind the school’s involvement, its international identity, and the role of education in preparing students for the challenges of the digital transition.
