Situated next to the archaeological site of the western necropolis of ancient Ambracia, the 2nd Geniko Lykeio of Arta is a dynamic upper-secondary institution at the intersection of history, innovation, and education. Located in the city of Arta – capital of the regional unit of Arta in northwestern Greece – the Lyceum offers forward-looking educational practices and EU-related exchanges.

Established in 1955, the Geniko Lykeio currently serves more than 230 students and nearly 35 teachers. It operates as a three-year upper-secondary school committed to delivering quality education within a technological learning environment. Indeed, the Lyceum offers moder classrooms that are equipped with science laboratories, technological devices, interactive whiteboards, and internet access.

The Geniko Lykeio of Arta actively welcomes and embraces innovative teaching practices and digital tools, endorsing the use of new technological equipment. The aim of the institute is to adapt to evolving educational scenarios while fostering active and mindful citizenship among its students.

A key pillar of the Lyceum’s international engagement is the participation in the Jean Monnet EU Values Project, dedicated to promoting European values and civic education. In collaboration with universities and institutes across Europe, the Lyceum organizes seminars, workshops, lectures and initiatives that aim to the deployment of a transnational education.

This European commitment aligns with the Lyceum’s broader vision of inclusive and globally oriented education.
